God alone is Sovereign

1 Chronicles 29:11

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all.

If God is so powerful and so good, why do bad things happen?

I found this over at the Lawman's blog. It's only about 5 minutes and well worth the watch. Enjoy!

How dare God not employ his power on all mighty man! :)

Thanks for sharing that perspective. It seems like he turned the question of, "Why do bad things happen to good people" to "Why doesn't God release his fury on the Earth and destroy all sinners?" which is a slightly different question.

Like Voddie said the person asking the question really does not understand the main issue "the heart is deceitfully wicked." If he understood anything about God, he would have asked it the way Voddie did.

Plus we both know there are no good people compared to a Holy God that is without sin. If any of the 10 commandments have been broken, then we are guilty before God. This is whether we believe in Him or not.
