God alone is Sovereign

1 Chronicles 29:11

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all.

The Few

Oh Father why does the reality of Hell not concern me more for those who are perishing, and especially those who are perishing and think they are saved. Forgive me oh Lord and help me to labor in Your harvest field. Please awaken those who are dead, to life in Christ. Please oh Lord breath life and give grace...

God Exulting Preaching

This short 10 minute video clip of John Piper is why I respect him so much. With Piper it's all about exulting God for the glory of Christ' name! We would all be wise to look closely at ourselves to see how high we hold Christ in our lives.

These truths about God are something my spirit has really known even before reading and studying Scripture. Coming to grips with the Awesome and Terrible God of Israel’s overreaching and powerful sovereignty should cause you to do one thing:

fear HIM!

Ecclesiastes 8:12

Though a sinner does evil a hundred times and prolongs his life, yet I know that it will be well with those who fear God, because they fear before him.

Christ is King!

Thanks to Tony the Lawman for posting some information about Youtuber Jay Atkins, aka vekl or I might have never found these Uncomfortable videos. Let's get uncomfortable in ourselves so we might get forced to the only true Comforter who is Jesus Christ.

Advance09 Video (All Video)

If you can only make time to watch or listen to one session, I recommend Mark Discoll's "Ministry Idolatry."

Advance09 Audio Last Day

Danny Akin and John Piper lectures from Saturday. They are both very good.

Advance09 Audio

The link above will provide you with all the audio sessions from Advance09, minus day three. I will keep an eye out and post when I see it come up. Piper's part two was the end of day three.

I recommend listening to all, but I am a realist and know most will not be able to commit. So in my opinion these three are the best. Again they all brought very powerful words, but these three sessions would be my recommendation. Listen to them in order:

1. Matt Chandler - Preaching the Gospel to the De-churched
2. Mark Discoll - Ministry Idolatry ***(Highly recommend)
3. John Piper (both parts) - Let the Nations Be Glad

I will get up part two when it comes online.

Double Honor

This past Sunday God used my local Pastor Dr. Hamlet to bring a powerful word. For that let me publicly say, job well done brother. I could hear the passion coming from within him and the preaching was a refreshing outflow I believe from the Holy Spirit.

Thank you for preaching the Word and the cartoon is for you brother. Double honor!

Life is Fragile

Last week a 16 year old boy was killed at 7:30am outside my home. He was driving alone on his way to school when he lost control of the Sports Utility vehicle and ran head on into my neighbor’s large oak tree. He was killed on impact.

Lot’s of questions run through a mind when you hear something like this. Why was he driving alone at 15? Was he speeding? Was alcohol or drugs involved? And many, many more could be asked. But the thing that really ways heavy in my mind and heart about this accident is whether he was saved or not? Did he know Christ and was he born again?

I actually wrote in my journal that morning before I knew he had been killed this: “During my prayer time this morning someone had a bad wreck outside my home. It’s just a reminder how precious and fragile life is. I need to be witnessing more and asking God to make this a desire of my heart. I need hell to be real to me, so it will motivate me to go and warn people about it.”

Life is so precious and fragile. We are not promised tomorrow nor are the ones we love and the people we come into contact with each day. Join me in looking for the opportunities God puts in front of us everyday, all day long to speak of His truths in Christ. I pray this young man was in Christ.

Heart and Mouth

Matthew 15:18

But what comes out of the mouth proceeds from the heart, and this defiles a person.

This verse really stood out to me today. The Lord used someone close to me about three and half years ago to use this verse to help me to start thinking and looking closely at my heart. About six months later God saved me. What comes out of the mouth lives in the heart is something good to meditate on. A couple of other things to ponder about:

What does your heart desire?
How do you speak to others?
Do you have compassion towards others?
What are your inward thoughts like?

We might look good on the outside, but what lives deep within our hearts? Just something to think about…
